Yesterday once more - der neue Film von Johnnie To

2004 scheint ein gutes To-Jahr zu werden. Auf der Berlinale begeisterte uns Running on Karma. In Cannes und Hongkong begeisterte Breaking News (in der Splatting Image steht gar zu lesen: "bester Actionfilm des Jahres"), kurz darauf folgte Throwdown, von dem man ebenfalls bislang fast ausschließlich Gutes hörte (manche rückten ihn gar in die Nähe des letztjährigen Highlights PTU). Und schon hat To einen neuen Film in die Hongkonger Kinos gebracht: Yesterday once more (offizielle Site).

"The film, from Hong Kong director Johnnie To (Du Qifeng), tells the story of a cat-and-mouse game between a divorced couple. Successful businesswoman Mrs Thief (Cheng) lives comfortably on the money she got when she divorced the rich businessman Mr Thief (Lau). But, when the business tycoon Steve, with his family treasure, proposes marriage, the jewelry-crazy Mrs Thief can hardly refuse. On the eve of their wedding, some thieves steal her treasure. The marriage is off and suspicion grows. Mrs Thief suspects that her ex-husband, the millionaire Mr Thief, is behind the theft."

Gespannt sein darf man ob Tos eigener Einschätzung des Films: Der nennt ihn nämlich "the romantic version of "Running Out of Time" (An Zhan), because of the tricks and psychological problems between the intelligent couple." Warten wir's ab!
